“Nothing in the world is as powerful as an idea whose time has come.” In the 19th century French author Victor Hugo’s words hit the spot – our time came in 1868. We wanted to fill beer into bottles. It had to taste good and quench the growing thirst for the alcoholic beverage throughout the entire country. Carl Kappert and his son-in-law Louis Holstein thus founded a company in Dortmund which sold technical equipment to breweries and malthouses.
Alongside its trade activities the first machines for production were soon developed – fillers, closure systems and bottle brushing machines – and subsequently protected by patent. The founders’ pioneering spirit formed the basis of success for KHS. Since our founding 150 years ago we have supplied you with top systems for the filling and packaging of your beverages. It makes us proud to be able to develop systems for you as the only turnkey supplier on the market with so many years of experience to its name. Come and see us at this year’s BrauBeviale and be convinced!
As one of our oldest beverages beer stands for both established tradition and great diversity. However numerous and various the world’s beers are, they all have one thing in common: it is their specific taste which gives them their unmistakable character. It makes a distinctive specialty out of a common beverage. In order to perfectly emphasize this individuality we offer you innovative systems for the preparation and filling of beer – regardless of whether your customers prefer their tipple out of the bottle or can or freshly tapped from the barrel. Come and take a look at the highlights which await you at the trade show! These include our process engineering systems that perfectly prepare your beer product for the filling process. Another is our can filler Innofill CAN Compact, the little brother of our can filler Innofill CAN DVD with the highest capacity. It reliably fills your beer specialties with low oxygen pickup and extremely low CO2 consumption. Finally, in this field we also offer you the modular Innopas SX for the gentle, energy-efficient pasteurization of your beer products, a system which you can retrofit as needed, allowing you to keep your operations both flexible and cost effective – especially regarding energy and water management.Turnkey systems for beer
Milk and mixed milk beverages, spritzers and flavored still water are alike in that they are becoming increasingly popular with health-conscious consumers. Whether a quick liquid breakfast, thirst-quencher after sports or low-calorie alternative to water: the diversity of these often conveniently packaged beverages for individual consumption is vast. Another feature they share is that they are all sensitive products which have to be handled very carefully during production. Our compact filler blocks for the safe processing of these products in PET are the result of decades of experience and create a solid foundation for promising further developments. Whether sustainable production processes or innovative container concepts based on the increasing use of alternative or recycled raw materials, we are continuing to work on reliable systems which deserve your trust.
We always like to think one step ahead with an eye to the future: you benefit from this aspiration as it forms the basis for our mutual success. For over 40 years we have been your expert partner for all issues concerning PET. We focus on developing sustainable containers with an attractive design, always adopting a holistic approach to the manufacture, filling, labeling and packaging of PET containers throughout the entire filling and packaging process. Our pioneering work on the first high-performance stretch blow molder in 1975 has been succeeded by the unequaled success story of the InnoPET Blomax. As of now it is also being incorporated into our compact block systems for still water, carbonated and sensitive beverages bottled in PET – which is 100% recyclable.pet.khs.com
When developing our innovative packaging we prioritize issues such as resource efficiency, material savings and cost effectiveness. This has resulted in the conception of various outstanding programs, one of them being Bottles and Shapes™ which not only caters for the very individual bottle design requirements of our customers but also illustrates the pioneering role we have in bottle lightweighting. For example, we have not only developed the lightest 0.5-liter PET bottle with a screw cap for highly carbonated beverages, which weighs just 9.9 grams, but also the lightest 0.5-liter PET bottle for still water available at the time of writing. This clocks up a mere 5 grams on the scales. These innovative developments also have a positive impact on the entire production process where further considerable resource savings can be made, in turn again reducing the product’s carbon footprint throughout its entire life.Bottles & Shapes – khs.com
As an experienced supplier of innovative packaging systems you can expect more from us: our stretch blow molders can already process preforms made of 100% rPET or which contain biobased materials. We are constantly working to produce ever lighter packaging and testing new materials in order to successfully ready them for market in the near future together with our partners. With Nature MultiPack™, we have launched the first film-free container pack that holds individual PET bottles or cans together with adhesive dots. Regarding secondary packaging we also not only offer great packaging flexibility with our carton systems; we also take a close look at where and how we can make further material savings with our intelligent developments. Each gram of PET or paper less saves valuable resources and costs on your production line; it also gives your customers the good feeling that they have opted for the right type of packaged product. 150 years of experience simply pay off.Packing Systems of KHS
